Dorset
& Wilts
The competition takes place this
weekend. It's a great chance to make money for the club again.
We need your help by providing refreshments we can
sell and by helping out with the various jobs on the day. Tsui is again
coordinating the refreshments and a list is available. PLEASE
HELP.
We
will not require raffle prizes for this event, but they will be needed for
July 4th.
Children should be getting their competing times
today.

SW
Championships

Just to advise there is a
slight alteration as to when the different categories compete at the SW
Champs, please note they are as follows:
July 4th at
Gryphon – Prep A/Prep B, Novice Trio, G1
ALL PAIRS, G1 Men’s Groups
July 10/11th
at Taunton – ALL Tumbling on the Saturday. G1 Trios, G2 and above.
We
hope this makes sense, but if there are any problems or issues as a result
of this please let Jane know.

Holy
Trinity Fete and Westland's Display
On Friday 18th
June at approx 6 - 6.30pm, we need a handful of gymnasts to support the
Holy Trinity School Fete. Plus, on
Saturday 19th June at approx 7.30pm, we also need a group to
support a charity event at Westland's Leisure Complex. And
possibly, on Gryphon Leisure Centre’s Open Day on June 20th.
If
you can help with any these, please pass your names to Jane – we would
like complete routines that already exist that could be shrunk down to fit
on 12 mats.Sat
17th July - No Gym
Please note there will be
no gym on Sat 17th July. This is due to the fact that the club
has the opportunity to get all coaches and a collection of gymnasts
through several courses at a greatly reduced price. For example, Jane will
be completing 4 courses - Strength & Conditioning, Renewal of
Safeguarding Children, Supporting Assistant Coaches, and Club for All.
Coaches
will be giving up their entire weekend, so I’m sure you can see the
benefit of canceling just 1 session.

Club
Tracksuits
Most of you will be aware
that the club is in the process of purchasing club tracksuits for
competitions so we look the part. The first order of 11 were worn at NDP
finals and we are now going ahead with a further order that we hope will
be with us for SW Champs in July. Although these are being purchased by
the Club, the Committee agreed that a fee of £10 per annum would be
charged, which would go towards the initial cost and help with the
laundering of them. All tracksuits will be issued with a serial number and
handed out prior to competitions. We aim to start collecting the £10 fees
now and the first ones to pay will be given priority for those tracksuits
that do arrive for July. Any lost tracksuits, the Club will expect the
individual to pay for a replacement which is £60. Anyone who still
requires a training hoodie, they are still available to purchase.
Any
questions regarding the tracksuits, please speak to David or Karen
Barrington.

Summer
Sessions
We
have thought long and hard about sessions for the summer. We will continue
to have no gym for the last 2 weeks of August. However, we agreed at
Saturday’s committee meeting that once the schools break up there will
be no gym on Thursdays, but the Saturday session will be extended by an
hour from 12-4pm. This will allow us not only to do NDP work but also to
start on our London Festival show, which will be bigger and better than
ever. So, the last Thursday session will be 22nd July and the
first one back in the new term will be Sept 2nd.

London
Festival
We have now finalised the
London Festival details. 39 gymnasts will be attending this year. With
Sept being an expensive month with Fees, BGA Membership etc., many of you
might want to pay in installments, please feel free to do this at any time
between now and the end of Sept – Total cost £90.
Our theme is now set as London Festival
themselves are taking the theme Halloween (which unfortunately we have
already done – although I reckon they are choosing this as we were so
good!).
We
would like to link in with this though so have chosen the theme “HORROR
MOVIES” and we have already started working on the music. Now you know
the theme, you could start collecting things towards outfits, so if you
see anything suitable please collect them. I envisage we will need Monks,
Witches, Skeletons, Ghosts, Zombies, Vampires etc... in fact getting
carried away I am already thinking about getting a coffin made as one of
our props.

Bag
Packing
After
our success of raising £600+ at ASDA bag packing, Tsui has successfully
secured slots for the following 2 opportunities:-
Sainsbury’s
Sherborne – Sunday 12th September (10-4pm)
Morrison’s
Yeovil – Sunday 7th November (10-4pm)
If everyone does a 2 hour slot we will
be well manned and raise a lot of money.
Please
write these dates in your diaries and help the club raise funds to offset
the expense of the tracksuits. Everyone will benefit from these at some
stage and 39 of you we know will be wearing them in London.

Fees

Reminder
that the 2nd half’s Term fees are now due, along with £5
entry fees for each category at Dorset & Wilts and £10 entry per cat
for SW Champs.
Committee
Meeting

Saturday’s
committee meeting was very poorly attended and we were disappointed. Can
we just remind parents that it is your club and as parents everyone is
invited to these meetings, and it is your chance to raise any issues or
suggest ideas? Please try and support the next one.
