JUNE 2008 NEWSLETTER

COMPETITIONS

Entries to all the following competitions have now been submitted. Slips will be issued shortly for times and billing.

Dorset & Wilts: Unfortunately, details for Dorset & Wilts on June 29th are likely to be the last issued even though this is the first competition. I can however tell you that the Floor will all be in the morning with Tumbling all in the afternoon. I hope this helps and we will issue times as soon as we have them.

Yate: Day and times ay Yate 5th & 6th July are now available. The house has also been booked for those wanting to stay overnight. This will be offered to the usual people first, then open to all if interested. Please let me know.

Gryphon: Times are available for those competing at Prep A/B and/or Tumbling on 13th July. As we are hosting this, there will be plenty of help needed throughout the day various jobs. It is also a chance to make some money for the Club to put towards the Air Track, through refreshments and a raffle, so help would be very much appreciated with donations of cakes and prizes etc. Help will also be needed on the refreshments stall if you're not already doing another job.

COACHING

Both Richard and Sophie took their Coaching exams recently and both successfully passed. Therefore, Richard is now qualified to Coach and Sophie as an Assistant. Scott and Dave are both booked in to do SCC in August / September.

JUDGES COURSE - FLOOR

Both Carol and Marie are going in August to do the Floor Club Judging Course, and Jane will be doing the Regional Judging Course at the same time.

AIR TRACK

David B, Jane and Anne have worked hard on submitting grant applications to various organisations such as Yeovil Town Council, West Dorset District Council, South Somerset District Council and The National Lottery - Awards for All. We are now awaiting news - watch this space!

TEAM TUMBLING

We have been given an opportunity to try a Team Tumbling Competition on Sunday 5th October at Gloucester where 4-8 people will compete as a team rather than as individuals. A team will be selected nearer the time and will consist of National and Regional level tumblers.

MONDAY GYM

Our Community Classes have been going extremely well at Westfield. Leading up to the above competitions, if any pair or group feel that they could do with the extra practice they are welcome to attend (5-7pm) at the new lower cost of £1.50

LONDON FESTIVAL

Once competitions are out of the way, focus will turn towards the London Festival routines, which could also be used for other display purposes.
