JULY 2008 NEWSLETTER

GRYPHON COMPETITION - SUNDAY

Thank you to everyone who helped out at the competition at the weekend. It went very successfully and the Club made in excess of £600 for it's funds. Many people carried out lots of jobs on the day, with refreshments, scoring, raffle, music, organising competitors, door, judges lunches, setting up and clearing away, to name but a few! Whatever you did - THANK YOU! By working as a team we made the day a huge success and hopefully we'll now be able to secure hosting the competition in the future.

COMPETITIONS

Well done to everyone who has competed at any of the recent competitions over the past 3 weekends. We all know there were some highs and some lows, but on the whole the Club did very well, managing an impressive 8 golds, 12 silvers and 3 bronze medals at the SW Championships.

LONDON FESTIVAL

With all the competitions out of the way, we are now going to centre our attention on Schools routines and the London Festival.

For London, we have had it confirmed that we will be doing a 4min routine as part of the evening gala which will be followed by a firework display. We also have an 8min routine on the Saturday afternoon, with a disco in the evening, plus another 8mins on the Sunday morning. Accommodation is all booked and transport is currently being organised.

We are going with a Halloween theme this year, so please start thinking of clothing that could be used. To help spread the costs, please feel free to pass money to Anne or Jane in an envelope labeled 'London Festival'. This way you won't have to pay it all in one go.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL

The Club are planning to go to London in January to see Cirque du Soleil. If you have either not had a letter regarding this or want extra tickets, please see Anne or Jane. We have to finalise the tickets soon and unless we can fill a coach, the trip may have to be cancelled.

OUTSTANDING FEES / COMPETITION FEES

In order to make Anne's life as easy as possible, if you have either any termly fees or competition fees outstanding, please can you pay these ASAP.

NEW NDP / TUMBLING PLANS

New NDP levels are being introduced in September and new Tumbling levels in January. We have seen a brief outline, although they are not confirmed as yet, and they are very different. We are intending to hold a Coaches Meeting on Sunday 20th July to look at future partnerships. In gym, we will have a focus on the Artistry side of routines to try to improve our scores in the long term, whilst increasing block-work and conditioning to provide better body condition.
