As mentioned in last month's Newsletter, a few of the older gymnasts in the club will shortly be embarking on a Level 2 Coaching Course. These courses are taking place at the Gryphon Leisure Centre on days where we have gym sessions. As part of the course, gymnasts from the club will be used to assist in these courses.

We are still collecting Tesco vouchers for Sports Equipment, so we would appreciate it very much if you could collect and hand in as many as possible. There is a box by the entrance to the hall at the Gryphon Leisure Centre each week for you to post your vouchers. Thank you. |

There are a number of displays (see below) coming up which require a gym routine to be put together; our chosen theme is weather. This will require a lot of planning which has already started. If you have not yet informed us which, if any, of the events you can attend, please can you do so by Saturday 21st April.
All gymnasts who are able to attend WILL be included in the routine. Please do not worry if you have not been involved so far, as the routine is up to 16 minutes long(!) and it will take a little while to build the routine and incorporate everyone.
Sat 2nd June - Music in the Park at Mudford Rec
Mon 4th June - Sherborne Castle Country Fair

REMINDER: Thanks to Tsui, we have an opportunity to go and see Cirque Du Ciel in Bournemouth on Saturday 25th August. For anyone that hasn't seen them before, they are incredibly talented performers of gymnastics. And again, thanks to Tsui, we have the opportunity of some great prices, £18.50 each.
Our plan is to travel independently, see the matinee at 2:30pm and then we could spend the late afternoon / early evening having a mass BBQ on the beach.
Anyone wanting tickets, please let Tsui or Jane know, along with the appropriate monies by April 28th.

We're delighted to announce that Gryphon West have been awarded the sum of £750 from Cash 4 Clubs. As those that attended the recent Committee Meeting will know, the club is looking to put a number of volunteer coaches through their paces. With three young gymnasts keen to take on coaching roles, the club applied for a grant to help them fund their Level 2 training. Chairperson, David Barrington, said: "We're grateful to Cash 4 Clubs for our £750 grant. The club will benefit directly from these gymnasts attending and passing this course." Thank you to everyone who helped out at the Prep A/B competition. We may have only had four competitors, but we rallied around and help out.
We'd like to thank all those who came and helped in whatever capacity - there were many gymnasts and parents, too many to name individually - but thank you for supporting the club and the four gymnasts. The effort from all has meant that the club made a substantial profit on the day, which will go towards equipment and the like for the club.

| Firstly, lets advise you all of those gymnasts who have qualified to attend the National Finals: Louise Miller - Age 11-12 Nat. 3 Tumbling Owen Edwards - Over 13 Nat. 2 Tumbling Men's Four - Grade 3 Floor Qualifying scores were required in all these this year and they all achieved it. Furthermore, post the Taunton competition, Daniel Cox will also take part at the National Finals as the boy who won in his category has since been disqualified. So, Dan will be competing in Nat. 2 Tumbling alongside the others at Stoke-on-Trent in May. This year, it was very hard to pick out gymnasts that had done exceptionally well, as the coaches felt they had all conducted themselves superbly. We were proud of them all. In the Prep A/B competition at the Gryphon Leisure Centre, both of our pairs again delivered excellent routines, with Jess Thomas and Georgie Paine achieving a Bronze medal in their category. |

From the recently returned questionnaires, those who kindly said they would be interested in periodically helping during a Saturday gym session, should have received a follow-up letter to tick what skills / jobs you would be happy to do. Please could these parents return their letters as soon as possible so we can plan a rota appropriately. If you have not seen this follow-up letter, please speak to Jane.

We would like to make you all aware of those gymnasts who have successfully completed and achieved a Coaching or Helpers Award Certificate:
Helpers Award - Katie Bell & Chloe Hawkins
Coaching L1 - Nick Hole
There are several others who will hopefully receive their awards/certificates very shortly. There will also be a few of the older gymnasts embarking on a L2 Coaching Course during this year: James Bell, Nick Holder & Hannah Rogers.
This is vitally important to ensure the running of the club in the future.
